Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often should my pet be professionally groomed?
A: The rule of thumb is every 4-6 weeks. Regular grooming will not only keep your pet clean but also keep the coat and skin healthy. Long hair dogs and cats will need a regular brushing at home to prevent matting and may also need professional grooming as often as 1-4 weeks. We will be able to advise you on how to properly groom your pet at home and how to select the appropriate grooming tools.

Q: Is mobile grooming more expensive than a regular salon?
A: Typically, mobile fees are between $15-$25 higher than salon fees. While mobile pet grooming is not for everyone, more and more people find the convenience and personal attention that they and their pet receive well worth the added cost. You are paying for the salon to come to you and for your pet to be pampered. You will not have the hassle of trying to book a grooming appointment around you and your family’s schedule. You also save the traveling time to transport your pet to and from the salon. Furthermore, your pet will receive individual attention because he is the only pet in the mobile pet spa. Please note that the client may be charged extra if the pet is too aggressive or very matted.

Q: Do you groom cats?
A: Yes, we groom cats but only kittens and cats that have previously been groomed.

Q: Do I have to provide anything for you?
A: No, our van is self-contained and the equipments are run by the generator in the van.

Q: Do you have a license?
A: State of Illinois doesn’t require pet groomers to have a professional license. However, our pet stylist holds an All Breeds Dog Grooming certificate from Groomadog Academy. Amy also completed a Pet First Aid Course through the Red Cross.

Q: How long does a grooming take?
A: On average, appointments last between one to two hours. Dogs that have long hair, matted or dense coat may require a longer appointment.

Q: Can I stay with my dog in the van?
A: We prefer not to have the owner in the van while we are working on the pet. Most pets will also act up or get excited when the owner is present, which make grooming more difficult and hazardous. Our van has large windows that will allow your pet to see his yard and feel safe at home.

Q: I didn’t want my dog to look like his breed, can you do something different?
A: Amy is very creative and always opens to new ideas and suggestions. She can give your pet the look that you want considering your dog has the right coat for that style.
